Introduction: this study aims to review current literature about medical emergencies that occur most frequently in the Dental Clinic. Objective: to review and discusses the main techniques and exercises to be performed in a dental office in cases of emergencies and knowledge and training of dentists to meet these situations. Method: literature review in the main on-line medical and dentistry journals databank Results and Discussion: this discipline has been around for a few years in the curriculum of dental schools in Brazil, and it is known that, due to the stress of everyday life and increasing the number of people with more health problems, patients with uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes, these become more frequent in the Dental Clinic.
