INFECÇÃO POR ACINETOBACTER EM UM CÃO: relato de um caso.

Over the past 15 years the concern of the doctors and microbiologists has been growing regarding the bacteria of the genus Acinetobacter, due to its remarkable ability to cause infections in immunocompromised individuals, and rapidly acquire drug resistance. Its role in nasocomiais infections in humans is widely analyzed and reported. Although infections by Acinetobacter sp. also occur in animals, they are seldom reported and studied. Through this report we attempted to emphasize the importance of knowledge of veterinarians about the action of this bacteria in order to implement the most effective treatment according to the strain found on the basis of their resistance mechanisms.
