Abstract

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is characterized by progressive growth of cysts in renal parenchyma leading to organ compression, enlargement and impairment, which results in chronic renal failure. The disease is common in Persian kittens, dogs, ferrets, sheep, pigs and horses. This is a case report of polycystic kidney disease in agouti, Dasyprocta azarae, which diagnosis was made by necropsy and histophatological findings and by azotemia.
