India's Contribution to DOAJ with Special Reference to Computer Science Discipline: A Study.

The paper examines the Open Access journals which are listed in DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals). The objectives of this study are to analyse the open access journals published in various years, disciplines, countries and publisher's wise. The present study also evaluates open access journals in computer science field. The majority of journals are published by USA; the large numbers of journals are published in health science disciplines. It makes an unhappy situation for subjects in history, philosophy, arts and humanities. The quantity and impact of journals in these subjects are not at par with subjects like medicine, sciences and technology. It is found that India contributed highest in publishing computer science journals. The study shows 60 online journals are freely accessible in computer science field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
