Abstract

The article reports on the results of a study which show the effective parasite killing of the collective production of nitric oxide (NO). The findings that inducible NO synthase (iNOS) was expressed by mononuclear phagocytes during Leishmania major infection using a mouse ear infection model are discussed. Also explained is the conclusion of the study citing that cooperative mechanism allows the host to contain intracellular pathogens at the tissue level.
