Abstract
- Chemical and mineralogical characteristics and physicomechanical properties are provided for mullite-silica refractory MKRA-50 before and after service in a steel-pouring ladle. Questions of metal secondary oxidation present within a lining are considered. A mechanism of sub-compound and gaseous complex formation in steel is discovered and their effect on phase formation in a ladle lining is demonstrated. Thermochemical methods are considered for the preferred choice of refractory materials based on corundum and magnesium oxide. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
