Abstract: The article discusses a trend of an increasing number of appeals for more financial aid by students at U.S. colleges and universities following initial aid offers as of April 4, 2014. Topics addressed include appeals by families who experience changes to their financial circumstances following the initial aid application, as well as differences between merit and need-based aid offers.
