Abstract

The Jinping cascade project on the Yalong River consists of the Jinping I and the Jinping II hydropower stations, in which the Jinping II hydropower station is a diversion-type hydropower station. There is a 119-km-long water-reduced reach between the lock site and a factory site. For the sustainable development of the watershed ecosystem health, a prescribed amount of water to support the ecosystem, called the process volume of ecological water requirements, should be discharged periodically to reduce the eco-environmental stress on the river channels. This article presents calculations of eco-scheduling of the Jinping cascade project under the given constraints of quantitatively analyzing and calculating the eco-flow process in a water-reduced reach. Comparative analysis has been carried out to search for the best scheduling scheme by using utility function theory. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
