Abstract

The article presents information on the risk of HIV transmission due to casual sex. Many people suggest that in order to prevent HIV or AIDS transmission, it is better to celibate or be monogamous. A study of young men in the U.S. Army by a group led by Levin shows that forty one percent of the respondents engage in male-to-male sex. It also shows that they made casual sex with multiple partners as a pastime. Most respondents also said that they do not use condoms. Another study by the group of Catania reveals that male African Americans are associated with high-risk sexual behavior compared to other groups in the U.S. Both of the studies state that young men engage in high-risk sexual activity.
