Abstract

The article discusses the U.S. Air Force's Strategic Air Command (SAC) aerial reconnaissance forces during the 1950s, including the role they played in the Korean War. An overview of the SAC commander Lieutenant General Curtis E. LeMay, including his impact on SAC culture and military missions, is provided. An overview of military aircraft that the SAC used, including the RB-29 Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) aircraft and RB-36 aircraft, is also provided.
