Abstract

Highlights: [•] We studied Nonylphenol (NP) effects on HPA axis of Podarcis sicula lizard. [•] We showed a time-dependent stimulation of the whole HPA axis. [•] We have also demonstrated that NP disrupted the negative feedback of HPA axis. [•] The persistence of NP might pose a potential threat to human health. [•] Our data may help to predict the NP biological alterations upon adrenal function. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
