Abstract

The article addresses the emergence of a new world disorder after the fall of the Soviet empire. In the Bosnian conflict, the West sides with the Muslims, against the Christian Bosnian Serbs and their Serbian allies under Slobodan Milosevic. This leads to the complicated world of ethnic conflict. It is frustrating because there is nothing to distinguish a Bosnian Muslim from a Bosnian Serb of Orthodox or Catholic allegiance. History, rather than ethnicity, divides them. The Muslims are descended from those who converted to Islam after the region has been invaded by the Turks in 1386.
