POLITICAL TARGETING IN A "CLEAN COUNTRY": THE DISTRIBUTION OF CENTRAL GOVERNMENT'S SOCIAL FUNDS AT THE MUNICIPAL LEVEL IN CHILE.

A conference paper about the political economy of social transfers and targeted subsidies (ST&TS) in Chile is presented which is prepared for presentation at the American Political Science Association Conference, in Toronto, Ontario, on September 2-6, 2009. The paper discusses topics including high degrees of state capacity and state autonomy, and low levels of corruption in Chile, and the specific characteristics of the Chilean party system.
