Abstract

The article offers information on the politics of territorial division in the U.S. which includes creation of Wisconsin Territory from Michigan, creation of Illinois Territory from Indiana and creation of Michigan Territory from Indiana. It discusses several facts which includes concerns of territorial organization, fluidity of the jurisdictional boundaries and the inherently temporary nature of a territory.
