The article has two main parts: In the first one, which deals with methodological (or meta-theoretical) issues within legal philosophy, the authors defend a so-called "methodological contextualism " approach according to which the projects of developing a descriptive concept of law, or a prescriptive or normative one, are both plausible and legitimate. Based on this approach, in the second part a preponderantly normative notion of law is articulated.
