Abstract: The article examines politics and government in Turkey. Municipal elections to be held on March 30, 2014 are examined as an indication of public opinion towards increasingly authoritarian behavior by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and of support for his Justice & Development Party (AKP). The possibility both Erdogan and incumbent President Abdullah Gul will run for that office in 2014 is examined.
