Abstract
- The article focuses on the study which discusses the role of local therapy such as surgery and radiation in controlling metastatic breast cancer of 350 patients. It states that the overall survival (OS) was 20.5 percent for patients who underwent surgery and 19.2 percent for patients treated without surgery. It notes that local progression-free survival (PFS) was better with local therapy. It mentions that the removal of primary tumors may allow growth of distant metastases.
