Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study that examined the first human infection with avian influenza A H10N8 virus reported in Nanchang City, China. Topics discussed include the case of a 73-year-old woman presented with fever, developed multiple organ failure and died 9 days after the illness onset, the difference of the reassortant H10N8 virus from the previously reported H10N8 viruses with the reassortant causing human infection associated with the death of a patient.
