Simply put, Bruce Balfour wants to save the trees and, in doing so, plant a seed of peace in a war-ravaged area of the world. After spending much of the past two decades doing volunteer work in the Middle East, the 51-year-old Calgarian was home in February 2003 raising funds to help a Lebanese group," Friends of the Cedars," rebuild the country's decimated cedar forests. At a cost of $10 a tree, the group can plant and then water 7,000, four-year-old seedlings they now have.
