Abstract
- The article looks at crowd-based micro-labor platforms on the Internet as of 2014. It outlines the creation of the Mechanical Turk platform by Internet firm Amazon.com 2005 and cites competing platforms including CrowdFlower and Clickworker. It offers a critical analysis of the labor relations on micro-labor platforms, citing the exaggerated imbalance of each worker's bargaining position vis-a-vis the employer and the absence of labor protections.
