Abstract

The article discusses the First Nations women's birch bark artifacts in the Canadian Plateau of British Columbia (BC), through referencing archaeology in the region. An overview of First Nations' culture, including the role that birch bark technologies played in First Nation basketry, harvesting, transportation and cooking of food, is provided. Several archaeological charts and diagrams, including in regard to the design of First Nations' birch bark containers, are presented.
