Abstract

The advent of mixed methods as a third methodological movement had led to confusion in the comprehensions of mixed methods-triangulation relationship. Owing to that, this article discusses mixed methods and triangulation, and presents them as concepts often used interchangeably by researchers to denote the mixing of qualitative and/or quantitative methods in a single study. Rooted from the arguments on mixed methods and triangulation, this article is aimed at answering whether it is a matter of choice to use one of these concepts instead of the other. In doing so, the article also aims to reflect where in the research development process each of these concepts change its meaning and purpose within the research context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
