Abstract
- Highlights: [•] Multi-modal imaging of the rat brain was applied in incomplete global forebrain ischemia. [•] Spreading depolarizations were elicited by progressive ischemia. [•] Depolarizations emerged at the lower limit of the cerebral autoregulatory capacity. [•] Inverse hemodynamic response (hypoperfusion) was associated with depolarizations. [•] Findings may be relevant to human conditions such as hypoxic–ischemic brain injury. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
