The promotion of Nynex offers $25,000 in prizes for consumers willing to solve The Case of the Missing Diamond mystery. The company aims to draw attention to the depth of information in its directories, which is being attacked by small players in local markets. According to Sally Millice, associate director of advertising and promotion for Nynex, this kid of strategy will make consumers understand the superiority of the Yellow Pages. The promotion will begin in Utica and will move elsewhere in New York State.
