Abstract

The article explains the need for an approach to the application of stress hormones in wildlife and plant conservation. Topics discussed include the role of glucocorticoids (GCs) in representing some physiological biomarkers, the function of GCs in mobilizing stored energy reserves and enhancing immune function, and the response by organisms to acute environmental change. Also noted is the importance of supplemental information within species to conservation biologists.
