Abstract

ABSTRACT A two-diode injection locked power combiner has been designed with computer-aided design approach and experimentally tested. An output power of 25.48 dBm with a phase noise of −100 dBc/Hz for a frequency offset of 10 kHz from the carrier frequency of 34.6 GHz has been achieved. The power-combiner cavity has been simulated with 3D full wave electromagnetic field simulator HFSS and cosimulated with the equivalent circuit of the continuous wave Gunn diode using ANSYS Designer. The experimental result closely matches with the simulation and is better than the analytical approach reported by earlier researchers. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
