The theme 'Music, Gender and relationships' is the main reason to this paper. We try to discuss some issues on music learning in Brazilian Northeastern philharmonic groups and their members' affective relationships. We discuss the roles of men and women in historical time, according to some aspects: relations of power, teaching and the participation of the members of those groups, and their profile within a traditional context.
