Abstract

This case report describes a rare instance of a patient presenting with asymptomatic incidentally detected hydronephrosis of the left kidney, with reduction of the parenchyma to 5 mm. Based on paraclinical examinations, a preliminary diagnosis of a ureteral tumor of unknown etiology was made. The dynamic renal scintigraphy verified kidney malfunctioning and the patient was indicated for left side nephrorureterectomy. Biopsy of the ureter yielded a surprising conclusion: extrinsic endometriosis of the distal ureter, non-infected kidney with tubulointerstitial nephritis and hydronephrosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
