Abstract

Buju Banton, one of more popular reggae artists from Jamaica recently performed at the “Buju Unplugged” press event at Show Night Club in Manhattan, New York where performed cuts from his new VP records album, “Friends for Life,” which was released on March 11. Notables in attendance at the event included radio personality Jabba from the radio station Hot 97; actor and reggae artist Leon, from HBO's “Oz” and Broadway actress Heather Alicia Simms, from August Wilson's “Ma Rainey's Black Bottom”. Banton's new album features his usual unrelenting, uplifting, consciousness-raising lyrics and powerhouse production. Banton will share his spiritual message of hope and peace on a worldwide tour, which kicks off at the Hammerstein Ballroom on March 13.
