Abstract

The superplastic deformation behavior of 19.7 vol.% β-SiCw/ZK60 composite was characterized. A maximum elongation of 200% was obtained at 613 K and at 1.67×10−2 s−1 with an m value of 0.35. Basal slip was activated during superplastic deformation. The activation energy (98 kJ/mol) approximates that for grain boundary diffusion (92 kJ/mol) in magnesium. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
