Abstract

Highlights: [•] Variety by planting date interact strongly for millet and sorghum but not for maize and cotton. [•] Late planting resulted in large loss of yield for maize, sorghum and cotton, but not for millet. [•] Short duration variety of millet is better adapted for late planting. [•] If rains start late, sorghum can be sown from 1st June to early July without major yield loss. [•] Cotton yield at early planting is larger than yield at medium and late planting.
