Abstract

The article focuses on a study conducted by researchers Jan M. Ache and Tom Matheson on the role of passive forces originating in the joints of insects and its role in insect's locomotion. The study reveals that passive joint forces counteracted active extension and helps in stabilizing the joint during powerful kicks. It focuses on the locomotion pattern of stick insect Carausius morosus.
