The effect of the Information and Communication Technologies on economic growth has been estimated for 30 developing countries including Turkey and 23 developed countries. By using yearly data, the fixed effect and random effect panel data methods are used to analyze this effect for the time period 1995-2008. We found that information and communication technologies have positive impacts on the economic growth both in developing and developed countries. The effect is higher for the developed countries. The effect of the aforementioned technologies on economic growth, depending on the proxy variable, is between %0.04 and %0.38 in the developed countries and between %0.03 and %0.09 in the developing countries. Those results support the theoretical assumption that information and communication technologies are one of the strategic factors for the economic development and high rate sustainable economic growth [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
