Abstract

Reports that the House passed a compromise version of a bill (S 1490) on November 4, 1993 that extends the authority of the Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) to collect fees for the weighing and inspection of marketed grain. Senate appears likely to accept the amended bill; Senate agreed to drop a provision it had passed that would have barred the use of water on stored grain; S 1490 extends the grain inspection service's authorization for seven years.
