Beyond Hope: Some Other Notable Diamonds at the Smithsonian Institution—Part 1.

The article focuses on two South African diamonds which are part of the National Museum of Natural History's Gem Collection, owned by the Smithsonian Institution. The Portuguese Diamond is an emerald-cut gemstone and the Blue Heart is a type IIb diamond. The grading of the two diamonds by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is also provided.
