Abstract

The authors conveys their views on how the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) has to strike a balance between privacy and legitimate public access to corporate records. The authors said there are many cultural, legal, and systemic barriers to transparency in China. It is noted that corporate records kept by SAIC have been closed to the public. The root cause of the strict information clampdown is said to be the access to corporate records provided easy to the overly curious.
