Highlights: [•] An improved sol–gel method was developed to synthesize Li3V2(PO4)3/C cathode material. [•] The pH value had an obvious influence on the morphologies of the prepared powders. [•] Powders prepared at pH=4 had uniform size distribution with little agglomeration. [•] Powders prepared at pH=9 had a small particle size.
