Abstract

Highlights: [•] We investigate individual variations, stability, and predictors of infant behavior in the still-face paradigm (SFP). [•] Infant SFP behavior shows robust expected patterns and substantial individual variation. [•] Infant SFP behavior is not stable from age 3 to 6 months. [•] Infant attention predicts stronger infant responses to the SFP. [•] Maternal sensitivity is related to stronger expected infant SFP behavior patterns, especially in infants with a difficult temperament. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
