Abstract

Highlights: [•] Few studies have analyzed the risk of cycling crashes after adjustment for exposure. [•] When exposure is taken into account, some important differences in the risk are found. [•] Risk is greatest for cyclists younger than 30 years-old and older than 65 in both genders. [•] These associations are stronger for severe crashes and weaker for helmeted cyclists.
