Abstract

Highlights: [ • ] Soil samples represented a range of pedo-climatic conditions, across Europe. [•] Pre-incubation temperatures were tested for soil basal respiration. [ • ] Pre-incubation conditions did not affect initial rate of basal respiration. [ • ] Experimental incubation temperatures were evaluated for soil basal respiration. [•] Results were most consistent at experimental incubation temp of 20°C and 25°C. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
