Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the deforestation in the Lábrea, Boca do Acre, Humaitá and Canutama county, located in south of the Amazonas State, Brazil. Furthermore, to characterize the possible economic activities associated with this process, analyze the vegetation, soil types and topography occurs where deforestation and quantify changes in forest conservation areas and rural settlements of those counties. Data deforestation from Program for Deforestation Assessment in the Brazilian Legal Amazonia using remote sensing images and digital image processing techniques, cartographic bases and socio-economic data were used. The technique of cross-tabulation was used to quantify deforestation in different landscapes of the counties studied. Deforestation, social data, as well as the main agricultural and livestock activities are presented and discussed for each of the four counties analyzed in this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
