Abstract
- The article looks at the health benefits of chocolate for the brain or heart as claimed in various media stories, with focus on the effects of flavanols contained in chocolates. It notes that cocoa beans have high concentrations of the phytochemical flavanol, large amounts of which have been shown to enhance endothelial function in arteries which contributes to improved blood and oxygen flow.
