Abstract

Highlights: [•] Fullerene films are excited with infrared lasers and ions (positive and negative) are detected with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. [•] The mechanism of infrared desorption and ionization is investigated with different samples and IR wavelengths. [•] Tunable IR studies provide desorbed ion infrared spectra of C60, revealing new vibrational combination bands. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
