Abstract

Direct numerical simulation of two-dimensional flow past a normal flat plate having an aspect ratio of 0.125 has been carried out in the Reynolds number range of 30-175 to investigate the effect of various transitions of the wake with increasing Reynolds number reported previously on the mean and RMS flow field. The time-averaged and RMS flow field, particularly the far-wake, has been observed to be sensitive to various transitions. However, a marginal effect is observed on the mean integral parameters such as the drag coefficient and the Strouhal number. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
