Abstract

The article presents and analyzes the jurisprudence case known as the Naulilaa case involving Portugal and Germany from 1914 to 1933. According to the article, the case concerns the murder of a German civil servant and two officers at the Portuguese fort of Naulila in Angola in 1914 and the counter-attack by the German West-African (SOAA) colonial Army on six Portuguese border forts. Focus is given to the relationship between the development of the international law doctrine and politics during the colonial era.
