Abstract

A biography of U.S. Marine Corps sergeant Bill Bordelon is presented. He was born on December 25, 1902, and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in San Antonio in 1938. He attempted to join the U.S. Navy but was turned down. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941 during World War II. He fought at Guadalcanal and at the Battle of Tarawa on Betio Island. He was killed in action on November 20, 1943. He was posthumously awarded the U.S. Medal of Honor.
