Abstract

The article discusses declining prices for cotton in November 2013, said attributable to expectations that China will begin releasing cotton from its 10-million-ton reserve before the end of the year. Over a two-week period prices for cotton futures have fallen 8.6%. However, some including Wu Faxin of cotton-trading firm Icotton Ltd. believe China will continue importing cotton due to the poor quality of much of the cotton it has hoarded.
