Abstract

The article focuses on the benefits of reducing the consumption of dietary fructose in decreasing high uric acid levels in kidney disease patients. Studies using rats have shown that high uric acid levels is a potential risk factor of metabolic syndrome. It points out the influence of genetic polymorphisms in the excretion of uric acid on the level of uric acid in individuals. It adds that the reduction of added sugars and syrups in a diet is effective in lessening fructose intake.
