Abstract

Highlights: [•] We evaluated nitrogen (N) dynamics in an urban constructed wetland under base-flow and storm-flow. [•] N concentrations were reduced under base-flow in all sampling years and all seasons except winter. [•] Over the 4-year sampling period, 38% of the N entering the wetland during base-flow was removed. [•] N was removed in 2 of the 7 storm events sampled and overall N-export was 34% greater than the input. [•] N retention and export in urban constructed wetlands are highly dependent on hydrologic discharge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
