Abstract

This study analyzes the government experience in Brazil of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) (Workers' Party), under the leadership of "Lula" da Silva, and the experience of the Frente Amplia in Uruguay, both framed in a particular historic political culture. The political actions of the left in Brazil under what is known as "Lulism" and those protagonized by the political left in Uruguay are the main subjects for reflection in this article, which seeks to reveal how they have been supported by traditional political practices with little socio-political transformation in both countries. The case of Uruguay is the most symptomatic in this comparison. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
